Residency at Lucknow
Nawab Asafudaulla started the construction of Lucknow residency in the year 1775 A.D.for the British residents and his staff which was completed by Nawab Saadat Ali Khan in 1800 A.D. It remains a important pillar of Indian independence revolution as still the evidence of first war of independence in 1857 A.D. can be traced in the above picture as spots of shelling and canon balls (holes on the wall).One must visit Lucknow residency to explore further first war of Independence and feel the Indian martyrs who were lack in army ,weapons and amenities than Britishers,yet fought for freedom.
